The girls arose in the morning and dressed quickly. Anya stood in the kitchen, slapping peanut butter on some toast as Eilish walked in. "If we had any brains, we’d be flying out of here before she wakes up. She isn’t going to forget the fight last night. You want coffee?" Just as she said that, she heard Fina moving around upstairs. "Too late now!"

Eilish had to giggle at her sister's breakfast choice. She'd been eating peanut butter on toast since she was about five. She poured herself a mug of hot coffee as Fina entered, still in her robe. "Pour me a cup while you're at it." Eilish poured the second mug full and added milk and sugar before handing the mug to Fina. She was glad her sister was calm and acted as if last night’s fight had never happened. Eilish slipped a pear into her handbag to eat later and sipped at her coffee. "Are you coming in today, Fina?"

"Yes, I’ll be in as soon as I eat a decent breakfast." She gave a side glance at Anya. "I want a list of what inventory we need to order. That will be the first priority when I get in, and things will only get busier with the summer months."

Anya decided to keep her smug comments to herself and oblige Fina. "Consider it done. You ready to go, Eilish?"

Eilish emptied the mug with a few big swallows of the coffee, nodding her head as she placed the empty mug in the sink. "Ready." She grabbed her handbag, tossed it over her shoulder, and followed Anya out of the kitchen. The two girls stepped out on the front porch and were hit with the wave of oppressive heat. "It's not even ten yet, and it's already unbearable." They walked side by side up the sidewalk toward their shop. Eilish kept looking at her sister, who had her eyes glued on the house under renovation. "Looking for someone?"

Anya never took her eyes off the house. "To be honest, I’m a bit nervous. I mean, what if he completely ignores me now? That would be my luck. Who can predict humans?” As they came closer, Anya slowed her pace and could see Carter on the roof. Ian was picking up scraps in the yard and throwing them in a huge dumpster. "Well, someone is definitely waiting for you."

Ian stopped what he was doing and turned to watch her approach. He'd already abandoned his t-shirt, and was wearing a pair of old jeans that sat low on his hips, pulled even lower by the hammer he had slung through a belt loop. He was tanned a golden brown, and his skin glistened with sweat. Eilish had never had a tan in her life. She burned in the sun. When she was little, the coven referred to her as their moon child because she was so pale. Her complexion, paired with her white hair and gray eyes, made her striking to look at. She raised her hand and waved at him.
